Job Description: 

The Quality Manager reports directly to the President of the company and is responsible for the developing, monitoring, and controlling of ARSC’s IATF: 16949-2016 certified Quality Management System (QMS).  He/she leads a small team of quality technicians/engineers working to resolve day to day internal and external quality issues and non-conformances, and is adept at data gathering, root cause identification, and corrective action implementation.  This requires an objective, data-based approach to problem solving and the ability and willingness to communicate well with a diversely trained set of personnel, from the shop floor to senior leadership executives and external customers.  The Quality Manager regularly identifies operational process gaps and opportunities, while carefully, quickly, and effectively implementing necessary changes with minimal direction and supervision.  She/he is highly detail oriented, displays a constant sense of urgency in their work, is a good listener, willing to adapt, and able to keep an open mind while always maintaining a laser-like focus on multiple short and long term goals at any given time.  An action oriented leader and team player.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead team of quality technicians and engineers responsible for product setup approvals (FAI), monitoring/controlling of production, and resolving internal and external issues and/or non-conformances in accordance with ARSC’s Quality Management System.
  • Lead all internal audits; including surveillance and re-certification (with particular focus on IATF 16949:2016)
  • Manage and oversee completion of PPAP documentation including Process Flow Diagrams, Process Failure Mode & Effect Analysis, Control Plans, FAI, Capability Studies, GR&R, etc.
  • Manage non-conformance resolutions and communications with customers.
  • Act as a senior gatekeeper for customer quality & risk. The primary point of contact for escalation of quality issues.
  • Coordinate disposition of customer and vendor returns (RMA)
  • Provide process direction and oversight for any and all rework activities
  • Enhance and develop processes to reduce opportunities for error, defects, escape rates, etc.
  • Audit new and existing supplier processes as needed. Occasional on-site visits may be required.
  • Lead customer correspondence of escalated quality issues with professionalism and excellent verbal/written communication
  • Recognize and react appropriately to out-of-control process conditions.
  • Ensure adherence to best in class inspection methodologies
  • Identify training needs and conduct employee training (as pertains to quality)

Behaviors, Skills & Experience:

Must-Have

  • A four year college degree in a related technical field
  • 3-5 years experience implementing and providing oversight of a formal quality management system (automotive or steel wire industry preferred)
  • 3-5 years experience managing to audited QMS certification standards (IATF experience preferred; AIAG-certification a huge plus)
  • Working knowledge of statistics and statistical process control
  • Formal project management experience
  • Working knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Working knowledge/experience with APQP methodologies (PPAP, FMEAs, Control Plans…)
  • Expert at root cause analysis, and implementation and documentation of corrective actions (familiarity with formal process methodologies; Global 8D, Five Whys, etc.)
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; Knows how to write a good email. And when to pick up the phone.
  • Strong time management skills; able to balance multiple projects with changing priorities
  • Familiarity with manufacturing measurement systems; Micrometers, Calipers and Rockwell verification/testing
  • Self-directed/works independently as needed

Preferred Experience

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a strong plus but not required
